How Diet Affects Acne
The relationship between acne and diet is a subject that is argued over time and time again. Since acne breakouts got various triggers for different people, it is difficult to opine if it plays an overall roll in aggravating or giving rise to acne or pimply condition. A good reason for the lack of researches related to acne and diet is that any scientific trials on this subject would not result in outcome of any prescription of drugs!!!
Maybe, it look so odd but no newer drug to administer means no revenues, so it is nearly impossible to get funds for a project that gives no profitable outcomes! Without such researches, doctors and dermatologist got to assume that diet does not involve acne, particularly when someone who has a fairly healthy diet gets acne and one who eats poorly has nothing! With the many factors that decide why some people get acne finding out the relationship to diet is pretty big sum.
So how diet affects acne? As luck would have it, there has been recent research on the relationship between diet and health ailments in western world. The studies showed that eating refined carbohydrates and sugars will cause a surge in insulin and an insulin-like growth factor (medically known as IGF-1). This will lead to an excess of male hormones namely testosterones and androgens, that finally cause the sebaceous glands (glands underneath the skin) to form more sebum or oil. This gets combined with dead skin cells and finally clogs the pores and gives rise to acne.
If we observe at most of the foods we eat today, they all are full of junk foods, fast foods, canned/packed foods, preservative foods and many other foods that ultimately slower down the metabolic process and finally give rise to many health ailments including acne. The dietary patter does affect the acne condition. It is often seen that a person who remains constipated suffer from certain health conditions such as oral thrush, acne and/or stomatitis. This is because constipation is a condition that makes the stools to remain in the intestines and over the times, such collected stools start producing harmful gas and microorganisms start getting seated. In turn, this will produce body heat and will increase the toxins in the body finally end up in producing acne.
It is therefore advisable to have dark green leafy vegetables and fresh fruit juices. They all possess natural flushing properties that flush out the toxins and unwanted and harmful substances from the body. This makes body toxin free-state and hence, it helps healing and preventing acne. Fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds in their natural state offer the body with all the nutrients and enzymes those are needed to digest and absorb the food taken
One should stop eating processed grains and sugars (such as white breads, candies, pizzas, donuts, etc) the acne starts to fade. In order to know how diet affects acne on should avoid taking all above mentioned foods that give raise to acne at least for couple of months.
